About Lumbini Park

Lumbini Park is a small park in Hyderabad city near Hussain Nagar. It is one of the most prominent tourist attractions in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The park had been developed for entertainment and relaxation in 1994.

 The maintenance and preservation of the park is under the Buddha Purnima project of the Urban Development Authority of Hyderabad. The main reason for naming the park as Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha.

Toddlers, kids and young people visit the park almost every day to enjoy the amusement rides. The garden inside the park is stunning with different varieties of plants and the rock decorations.

The key attraction inside the park is a majestic clock at the entry gate. The musical fountain show is fabulous to watch as the waters dance with the rhythmic beats of the music. A 3D laser show occurs in the evening where you can witness the city being created with the vibrant display of lights. 

The parks are located along the banks of the famous Hussain Sagar Lake. Boating options are available for the visitors from morning till evening. You can ride on a boat or a ferry and reach towards the large statue of Lord Buddha situated in the middle of the lake.

The park offers a perfect refreshment from the humdrum of city life. The location is convenient for the locals and the visitors, being present right at the center of the city of Hyderabad.

Location -
 Lumbini Park is located at Hussain Sagar in the city of Hyderabad. It is present just opposite the Secretariat New Gate, which serves as the landmark.

Timings -
 Except for Monday, the park is open on all days of the week from morning 9 AM till 9 PM at night.

 The entry fee is INR 20 for adults and INR 10 for children

The Infrastructure of Lumbini Park

The Lumbini park is spread across an area of 7.5 acres of land. Inside the park there is a big auditorium for the laser show. 

The auditorium covers 2.5 acres of the park, capable to accommodate almost 2000 visitors. The entire area of the park is adorned by numerous species of flowers, plants and trees. 

The park provides all the basic amenities needed by the tourists to spend an entire day in the park. 

There are food outlets, restrooms, drinking water facilities inside the park. Adequate space is present for the children to play and enjoy in the park. No doubt the locals consider the park as to be a perfect picnic spot.

Laser Show at Lumbini Park



The 3D Laser show at Lumbini Park offers a unique experience demonstrating the scintillating combination of music and lights.

It captivates the audience with its superb display of laser lights depicting the historical stories of Hyderabad. Adjacent to the laser show is the musical fountain. It is interesting to watch the stream of water dancing along with the musical tunes. 

On weekdays the laser show is held once a day at 7:15 PM whereas on the weekends it is held twice on Saturdays and Sundays at 7:15 PM and 8:30 PM. 

There are separate tickets for the laser show, INR 50 for each person. The musical fountain show timings start from 6:30 PM till 8:00 PM. 

The laser show inside the park is considered to be one of the best shows in India. It is indeed exciting to watch an entire city being created with the shimmering colourful lights. 

The show is significant in uplifting the historical importance of the city. The exquisite display of lights glowing along with the narration in the background creates a mesmerizing experience.

1. The park provides opportunities to purchase tickets online. It is better to opt for the option to avoid the crowd at the ticket counters.

Outside food and beverages are not allowed inside the park, hence you must follow the guidelines.

Shops and stalls selling food and beverages are present for the visitors.

Mobile phones and cameras are allowed inside the park for the tourists to conveniently capture the beautiful landscape. 

5. There are separate charges for boat rides and laser shows over and above the entry fees. Restrooms and drinking water facilities are available in the park. 

6. There is a parking area inside the park for vehicles. You must ask for a parking slip positively from the authorities.

Dustbins are available at various corners of the park for waste disposal. 

8. The visitors need to follow the instructions of the boat operators regarding security restrictions. Wearing life jackets, especially for the speed boats is very important. The riders must abide by the rules and not try to defy it.

How to Reach Lumbini Park

From Airport - 



The fastest way to reach the park from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is to hire a cab. It takes approximately 34 mins to cover the distance driving via the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway and NH44, covering a distance of approximately 32 km.

The other option is to take a bus from the airport to the secretariat, which takes almost 2 hrs to reach the park. The buses operate daily at an interval of 1 hour. From the secretarial to the park, it is a 3 minutes walk.
