Hong Island

An undiscovered gem just off the Krabi coast in the Phang Nga Province is the Hong islands. Places to visit near Hong Island

1. Lading Island: An island to visit on your Hong Island tour is Lading Island, a place that will mesmerize you with its stunning sights. Visit this place to take a look at the rock formations and huge caves.

2. Pak Bai Island: Pak Bai Island has fantastic coral reefs and a shallow beach on one part of the island where you can spend some time on the white sandy beach looking at the teal blue water. You can also opt to swim around or even indulge in snorkeling or fishing. The rest of the island is a maze of caves formed from cliffs being eroded by the sea.

3. Daeng Island: Located halfway to Hong Island from Ao Nang is Daeng Island, an island known for its beautiful coral reef which can be seen clearly from the surface of the water during low tide. The island is an excellent choice for relaxing and indulging in snorkeling.

Tips to Visit Hong island

1. Make the most of visiting the exotic beaches by carrying your beach essentials along such as a towel, swimsuit, extra pair of clothes and slippers. 

2. If you plan to go for a snorkeling experience, carry your own snorkels with you.

3. Apply a layer of sunscreen before starting your tour to Hong Island so that you don't get burnt by the sun. 

4. If you are prone to seasickness, prepare ahead of traveling by longtail boat as the ride can be bumpy.

5. The tour may not be suitable for children below the age of one year and pregnant women due to bumpy waters.

6. Make sure you carry sufficient water and keep yourself well hydrated throughout the day to prevent losing energy and feeling dehydrated.

7. Carry snacks and fruits if you are planning to spend some time on the island as the island has no restaurants.

By Boat: Hong Island is located between Krabi‘s Tubkaek Beach and the islands of Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi, around 25 km southwest of Ao Nang and can be easily accessed from most beaches of Krabi. You can reach the island in 20 to 30 minutes from Krabi town or Ao Nang if you travel by speed boat. If you travel by long-tail boat, you can reach the island in 40-45 mins traveling from Krabi town or Ao Nang. Apart from this, both Krabi Town and Ao Nang’s ferry dock have sea kayaks and organized tour boats that will take you to the island.
