Swami Dayananda Ashram in Rishikesh is a renowned center for the study of Vedanta and Sanskrit. Founded in the 1960s by Swami Dayananda Saraswati, the ashram combines traditional teachings with modern techniques. Also known as Arsha Vidya Pitham, it offers courses on Vedanta texts, Sanskrit grammar in the Paninian style, and Vedic chanting.
The ashram offers various courses, including a 3-month Vedanta course and a 3-year long-term program for deeper exploration of Vedantic philosophy. It also hosts family retreats and Swami Dayananda Memorial Retreats, where children must be accompanied by parents. The syllabus covers the Vedas, Upanishads, Yoga, and Vedic mantras, complemented by regular Satsangs. Retreats focus on topics like inner growth and the teachings of Isha Vasyopanishad, offering a holistic approach to personal transformation.
It is also home to Lord Sri Gangadharesvar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Its lecture hall, offering a serene view of the Ganga, comfortably accommodates 250 participants for seminars and classes. The well-stocked library offers a wealth of spiritual texts, while the dining hall serves nutritious, sattvic meals, creating a nurturing environment for all.
