Statue Of Liberty

Statue of Liberty is not an unknown attraction to tourists, the Lady Liberty is a symbol of freedom from slavery since October 28, 1886, and has remained one of the most visited places in New York. The statue is made with copper and was a gift from the people of France to the United States.

The statue is situated at Liberty Island in the New York Harbor, a must-visit destination for anyone planning a USA trip. The figure of the statue is a robed Roman liberty goddess who holds a torch in her right hand, above her head; her left hand carries a tabula with a date inscription of July 4, 1776, in Roman numerals. A broken shackle with chains lies at her feet as she takes a step ahead, symbolizing freedom and progress.

• Statue is made from copper, and it has turned green due to oxidation over time. It was first presented at the World’s Fair in Paris in 1878. 
• The face of the statue is similar to that of the sculptor's mother,and the female figure represents Libertas, the Roman goddess of Freedom.
• A secret box buried under the statue has a copy of the US Constitution, a portrait of the sculptor and twenty bronze medals. 
• There are seven spikes on the crown of the 305 feet 1 inch-tall statue which symbolises a radiant halo. 
• Torch in the hand of the statue embodies enlightenment, lighting the way to freedom and was replaced in 1986. It also reflects sunlight during the day.
• The park where the statue is placed is a federal property administered by the National Park Service.
• Dogs are not permitted in the park, and private vessels or boats are not allowed to be docked. 
• No entrance fee for Liberty island, as it is exempted by law.
