About Museum Of Cosmonautics

The Museum of Cosmonautics is one of the largest research and technology museums in the world. The museum is accommodated in the stylobate of the monument "To Conquerors of space". It was solemnly opened on April 10, 1981, in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s achievement as the first person to orbit the earth.

Among the 85,000 objects in the museum’s collection are the first Soviet rocket engine, the first Soviet satellite, taxidermy space dogs, the moon rover Lunokhod, the personal belongings of the first Soviet astronaut and specimens from the moon.
