About Musee Zadkine Paris

Take a tour of the Musée Zadkine, a quaint little place tucked amid verdant Europe Tour Packages sculpture-filled gardens which is dedicated to the work of Russian sculptor Ossip Zadkine. Located near the Jardin du Luxembourg in the 6th arrondissement, Paris, the museum is a must-visit if you are in the city and looking for some of its most treasured hidden gems. Explore the serene structure to witness over 300 sculptures in addition to some of the most exquisite drawings, photographs, and tapestries.

The museum was established by Zadkine’s wife, Valentine Prax, who donated his personal collections as well as their home and studio to the City of Paris. After its inauguration in 1982 following Prax’s death, the place underwent several renovations and finally opened its doors to the common public in 2012. The small museum in the village of Les Arques, where the sculptor worked and spent his summers, is beautifully kept.

Once here, you can take the guided tour led by the museum’s very knowledgeable curator who explains all about the work and life of Zadkine, making it extremely informative and interesting. Do not miss the spectacular sculptures carved out from tree trunks, especially the ones in the church near the garden. Here also you will find several works by Zadkine, out of which "The Crucifixion" is particularly more noteworthy.
