About Lake Batur

Located on the south eastern side of the active volcano Mount Batur, Lake Batur is a stunning volcanic crater considered holy by the Balinese people, thereby considered to be a major attraction to cover with our Bali travel packages. The crescent shaped volcanic lake is the widest lake in Bali, and its serene blue waters are surrounded by the towering blue figures of the Batur and Abang ranges. Known by the locals as Danau Batur, Lake Batur lies in the caldera of the active Batur Volcano.

The lake was created by an eruption in the year 1971, which claimed several lives and properties. The eruption destroyed the Pura Ulun Danu Batur temple, Bali’s biggest temple, which then nestled near the lake area. The temple was then reconstructed again at some distance, away from Mount Batur’s Ring of Fire.

The lake lies at an elevation of over 1,000 kilometers above sea level, directly on top of the volcano’s collapsed topside. Due to its elevated height, the temperature of the lake water as well as that of the surrounding villages always remain fairly cool. The unique, picturesque Lake Batur attracts visitors from across the world with the promise of an unprecedented experience.

The Lake offers multiple sport opportunities, such as boating, canoeing, swimming and offers a perfect setting for having picnics. The lake also has a natural hot spring of its own, where visitors can enjoy a hot bath at all times of the day. With its multiple sport opportunities, mesmerizing landscape and scenic backdrop, Lake Batur offers a perfect sojourn for travelers, away from the bustle of the busy city life.

Highlights: While you are here get a taste of the culture here as you explore the local village and then the museum and learn about the historical backdrop of the volcano. Also visit Pura Ulun Danu Batur- - considered the second most famous temple in Bali. The temple sits on the edge of the caldera, having been destroyed by the lava when it was initially situated within the basin.

Location: Lake Batur is located at south east side of Mount Batur.

We have booked our honeymoon through Thrillophilia to Bali and the trip went amazing with everything presorted for us to just enjoy. The villa in Seminyak had a private pool which we practically lived in. What surprised me most was how well the local guide Ketut read what kind of travellers we were. on Day 2 he skipped two tourist spots and took us to a small village ceremony instead that no other tourist was at. That hour was worth more than any itinerary item. The sunset at Tanah Lot with no rush to leave was perfect. I will definelty recommend thrillophilia to my friends.

As part of our honeymoon, we purchased a package to Bali from Thrillophilia. It was a nice and hassle-free trip with the finest of management conceivable. It is a gorgeous area, with fascinating mountains and tempting beaches. I'd like to travel with the team once again.

Me and my partner will surely book this package again. Thrillophilia outdid itself by including so many things in this package. We enjoyed the water sports, our hotels, visiting the temples and other places during our honeymoon.
