Elephant Village Other Essential Information

History of Elephant Village Pattaya:

This beautiful Elephant sanctuary was opened in 1973 as a home to elephants who earlier used to work in the jungles to transfer wooden logs. The village was designed and created by the vision of Khun Phairat who himself used to be an elephant keeper. He thought of a natural home for these retired giants where they can feel they are in the jungle and their upkeep can also be maintained.

Khun Phairat himself designed the elephant shows and the safaris for the visitors keeping the safety of the elephants at first. He avoided the use of painful hooks and chains to control these huge animals. Today, The Elephant village hosts a thousand visitors and three elephant shows every day. The fees for the visit are totally spent on the expenses of the village and looking after the elephants. After the success of the elephant shows, this village also opened a mini zoo which is home to a lot of local wild animals.
