The water off the Canggu coast tends to be rough, making it unsuitable for swimming. However, the swells and barrels here make it ideal for surfing. Echo Beach is the most popular location in Canggu for surfing, although kitesurfers are known to frequent Nelayan as well. In terms of entertainment, some beaches are more developed than the other; while Echo, Batu Bolong and Berawa Beach have plenty of beachside clubs and restaurants, while Nelayan Beach has more of a rustic, village-like charm.
A fascinating temple, as well as a tiny strip of eateries and surf shops, can be found at the southern end. There's a lively beach scene here, with plenty of families sitting out, surfers taking a break, and visitors trying their hand at beach sports. All day, delicious cuisine, high-quality coffee, and icy beverages are offered, and at night, barbecues are fired up for sunset, and a spacious terrace facing the beach fills with a happy and surfer crowd. Occasionally, there are some live music performances along the beachfront as well.
