Baños de Doña María de Padilla

Baños de Doña María de Padilla is located in the complex of the Alcazar Royal Plaza. It was originally a water storage area in the times of Almohads( or the Moors).Legend has it that Maria de Padilla, with whom the king was madly in love, used to come to this area to take bath in the scorching summer months.

Due to his infatuation with his mistress, the king used to offer water as drinks to the visitors and palace members. Although it is not a bath of royal stature, it still has an amazing touch of architectural beauty with a serene ambiance.

It has an amazing setting, with an unending strip of Gothic-styled arches with a golden glow in the background. Upon entering the bath, you will be able to enjoy its seclusion and tranquility.

• The Bath of Maria de Padilla is located in the Royal Palace of Alcazar, in the heart of Seville. It is hidden in the basement of the palace and can be reached via the Gothic Palace and also the Mercury Pond.
